Jennifer Sudul Edwards, PhD
Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art
Jen Sudul Edwards, Ph.D. received her doctorate from the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, in 2014, writing her dissertation on Niki de Saint Phalle. Since July 2019 she has been the Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art at The Mint Museum. Prior to the Mint, Jen held curatorial positions at the Norton Simon Museum, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, and the Annenberg Space for Photography. Jen has lived in Charlotte since 2015 with her husband, Gavin, and her two kids. She loves going to movies and birding with her kids, walking her dog, reading, listening to all types of music, exploring historic and contemporary fashion, and traveling the world. She has perfected the gin martini and is determined to be able to speak Spanish semi-fluently before she is 70.
Jen’s favorite work in the collection is E.V. Day’s “Transporter,” a work that combines pop culture, fashion, feminism, engineering, and creative ingenuity. Day was one of Jen’s favorite artists when she was in her 20s and she loves that it is now part of her daily life at the Mint.
