Delve into art history without homework, exams or stress with the Mint’s art history survey course.
The Mint Museum is offering ART 101: A Global Adventure survey course that includes cultural investigations and innovations, while adding in some unusual, intellectual twists moving through art history, from cave paintings to ancient Europe, and contemporary works.ART 101: A Global Adventure – Spring 2023 begins February 14th at Mint Museum Randolph. Classes take place 6-7:30 PM Tuesday evenings and include a complimentary bar and time to socialize from 5:30-6 PM, as well as a Super Saturday that delves deeper into a particular time period, style, or culture. The session features talented professors and curators from the Carolinas, as well as scholars from museums and universities across the country.
Can’t attend every session? All participants will be given access to a password-protected website, where videos of every lecture will be recorded for viewing at their convenience.

“Painting as Metaphor: The Unique Aspects of Chinese Traditional Painting” presented by Li-ling Hsiao, PhD, associate professor of Chinese language and literature at the UNC Chapel Hill.
Learn how Chinese traditional paintings are pictorial poetry that interact with the poetic inscription on the painting and how paintings present music.
