Coined in the South: 2024 aims to bridge the gap between museums, galleries, and studios by showcasing thought-provoking works by the emerging artists living or working in the Southern United States.
The exhibition transcends any singular aesthetic, theme, or medium, striving to mirror the rich diversity and creative spirit of the Southern arts community.
This juried exhibition, presented by Young Affiliates of the Mint in collaboration with The Mint Museum, will be on view December 14, 2024 through April 27, 2025 at the Mint Museum Uptown Charlotte.

The Young Affiliates of the Mint
The Young Affiliates of the Mint (YAM) is the Mint Museum’s young professional auxiliary group. The organization’s mission is to expand access to the arts for children by raising funds for subsidized classroom trips to the museum each year. YAM annual programming focuses on supporting the museum and fostering community through cultural and social events. Established in 1990, the Young Affiliates is the premier social organization for young art enthusiasts in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Submission deadline: Please submit your entries by 11:59 PM April 1, 2024.
All works of art must be delivered and ready for installation between and August 1, 2024 and Novemeber 1, 2024. Artists are responsible for covering shipping expenses. Each accepted artist will receive a $350 stipend to help defray shipping and travel expenses.
Finalists Announcement: Artists selected for the biennial will be notified by the week of June 28, 2024.
Entry Fee: The entry fee is $40, and each artist can submit up to three (3) works as part of their application. The $40 fee is a one-time charge that covers three (3) submissions. Up to three (3) additional pieces can be submitted for an additional $10. A total of six (6) pieces are allowed per artist.
