A poignant look at photographer Linda Foard Roberts’ new installation at Mint Museum Uptown, “Responsibility in Representing”

Charlotte-based photo artist Linda Foard Roberts is known for the way she negotiates the fraught relationship between artist and subject, and that give and take is explored in her installation Responsibility in Representing, on view at Mint Museum Uptown’s Level 4 Kline Gallery.

Linda Foard Roberts photographs family, friends, objects, and landscapes that are particularly imbued with meaning. Often, her images capture people in moments of vulnerability, finding resilience in a moment of struggle: her daughter as a child, still unaware of external threats ranging from war to societal expectations; a teenager on the brink of adulthood; and here — as captured in this video by Matt Walsch Media — a friend fighting cancer who confronts a failing body.
