Chief curator and Curator of Contemporary Art Jen Sudul Edwards is joined by Maja Godlewska, artist and professor at UNC Charlotte, who will discuss her Constellation CLT installation The Fluid Landscapes, on view at Mint Museum Uptown.
Godlewska has spent the last two decades exploring the intricate, and often disruptive, ways humanity interacts with the natural world. Her newest body of work is an exploration of tourism’s impact on the environment.
Her large-scale, immersive installations—crafted with watercolor paper, ink, and sculptural forms—mimic the rhythms of the land while evoking memory, movement, and erosion. Each undulating surface invites viewers to slow down, to look rather than scroll, and to reflect on the paradox of wanting to preserve beauty even as we consume it.
