Affiliates
The Mint Museum’s affiliate organizations provide our members even more opportunities to become involved and contribute to the museum in meaningful ways. It’s our hope that these affiliates will inspire you to explore the variety of ways you, too, can more fully immerse yourself in the Mint.

Organized in 1924 as Charlotte’s first garden club, Charlotte Garden Club’s mission is to encourage the love and knowledge of all aspects of gardening, horticulture and the artistic use of growing things through educational programs, garden tours and related community projects.

Docents of The Mint Museum, the volunteer members of the Learning & Engagement department, lead tours and devote time and professional expertise to help visitors understand and enjoy works in the museum collections, the buildings and the special exhibitions.

Organized in 1956, the Auxiliary supports The Mint Museum by raising money to support educational offerings for school age children and fund acquisitions for the Museum’s permanent collections. The Auxiliary raises money through its annual fundraisers, the spring Room to Bloom Celebration (formerly known as the Home & Garden Tour) and their Fall EnrichMINT Forum.

Established in 1990, the Young Affiliates of the Mint encourages young professionals to become involved with The Mint Museum. The Young Affiliates sponsor both social and fundraising events such as the annual Derby Days celebration, a viewing party of the Kentucky Derby on the front lawn of Mint Museum Randolph; and the Black & White Ball.

The Delhom Service League was the ceramics affiliate of The Mint Museum for 50 years: 1972-2022. It was organized in 1972 following the arrival of Miss M. Mellanay Delhom and her outstanding collection of historical pottery and porcelain. Potters Market at the Mint was its signature fundraising event that continues each September through The Mint Museum.

Founders’ Circle
As the national support affiliate of the Mint Museum of Craft + Design (MMCD), the Founders’ Circle played a pivotal role in the foundation of the Mint’s world-class Craft and Design Collection For more than 20 years, Founders’ Circle partnered with MMC+D to promote appreciation of contemporary craft and design, build and strengthen its collections, and develop diverse, passionate, and knowledgeable supporters. In 2021, the Founders’ Circle board of directors voted to dissolve the group.

Romare Bearden Society
The Romare Bearden Society was created to support and grow The Mint Museum’s permanent collections of African-American contemporary art through educational, outreach and social programs, with a particular focus on the works of African-American, Charlotte-born artist Romare Bearden.

Friends of the Mint
Friends of the Mint, a long-standing affiliate group with a passion for art, supported the museum by offering public programs on a wide variety of arts-related topics for many years, was dissolved in spring of 2022.
