Allegorical Figures of the Four Elements

Bow porcelain factory (London, England, circa1747 - 1774)

These sculptures depict gods and goddesses from classical mythology as representations of the Four
Elements. The female figure with a lion is either Ceres or Cybele and represents “Earth.” The female
with an eagle is Juno, or “Air.” Vulcan, holding a cauldron of fiery flames, is “Fire,” and Neptune, with a
dolphin, is “Water.”
