THE BIGGEST MUSEUM BLOCK PARTY RETURNS WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15!
FOMO: Museum Block Party is a free public activation across three Uptown Charlotte museums — The Mint Museum, Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. FOMO is presented in partnership with Charlotte SHOUT!, My Brother’s Keeper, and 5th St District all Powered by Sonorous Wave. Hosted by Charlotte Is Creative and Dammit Wesley of BLKMRKT, this is one of the biggest, largest museum takeovers in Charlotte, and we have programming extending all along Tryon from 5 – 9 PM including SHOUT! After Dark taking over the bars at 5th Street starting at 9 PM.
Go ahead and take Thursday off; we’re outside.
What to expect:
• 5 PM: Bar opens serving Beer, Wine and Bubbly
• 6 PM: Kick things off with the debut of the Steinway Series. Ethan Uslan takes over the keys with a set of ragtime classics that feel equal parts vintage and electric.
• 7 PM: The museum flips into silent disco mode. Grab a pair of headphones (only 250 available, first come) in the Carroll Gallery and choose your vibe. Dance through the Atrium, spill out onto the front terrace, or take over Wells Fargo Plaza.
• 8:30 PM: The Bar closes
• 9 PM: A Second Line band procession (think New Orleans) will entertain folks as they make their way down Tryon Street to the FOMO After Party along 5th Street
