In April, families and children have the opportunity to celebrate El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), with programs that take place in select Library branches and partnering locations. Also known as Día! Diversity in Action, this initiative provides an opportunity to showcase services that celebrate our nation’s rich cultural tapestry.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Library has celebrated Día since 1998 as part of its commitment to connecting children and their families to multicultural books, bilingual services and educational resources. Nationally, Día is recognized on April 30, but local programs presented by the Library and its partners will take place throughout the month of April, culminating in a grand celebration at ImaginOn on Saturday, April 25, 2015.The Library and the Mint invite you to meet and listen to Laurence Pringle, author of more than 100 children’s books, including Octopus Hug and Bear Hug, and his 2015 release Octopuses! Strange and Wonderful. Pringle makes non-fiction tales gripping, enjoyable and educational. Pringle will give a short talk and tell stories, then sign copies of his books.
