World Wide Knit In Public Day (WWKIPD)

Mint Museum UPTOWN

Saturday, Jun 14

11:00AM - 3:00PM

Admission: Free to Mint members and after museum admission

World Wide Knit In Public Day is an opportunity for fiber fans – knitters, spinners, crocheters – to gather together to celebrate their craft, and connect with each other. The Charlotte Knitting Guild hosts this event with the museum in the Atrium of the Mint Museum Uptown. There will be information about the Guild, door prizes, a swap table, demonstrations, and opportunities for the public to try their hand. Demonstrations will include learning how to knit, hand felting, and, new this year, kumihimo or Japanese cord braiding.

Non-knitters are welcome! Visitors may also view the Mint’s exceptional collection of fiber art in the galleries, and take special note of the fiber art and accessories in the current exhibition Allure of Flowers: Botanical Motifs in Craft, Design & Fashion.
