Alfred Sergel IV studied jazz and percussion at Florida State University and Berklee College of Music. Over the years, Sergel has shared the stage with a variety of renowned artists including Grammy Award Winning saxophonist Bob Mintzer, Grammy Nominated pianist Martin Bejerano and trumpeter Marcus Printup from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

Amidst an active tour and session itinerary, Sergel formed his band, the Alfred Sergel IVtet in 2017. The IVtet focuses on all original compositions creating a sound that fuses pop melodic undertones within a modern jazz context. This makes their music accessible to anyone.

The IVtet sold out their first show in 2017 and is comprised of some of the best musicians in the North Carolina region: Troy Conn on electric guitar, Ron Brendle on bass and Phil Howe on piano.
