Held on the first Tuesday of each month\, this restorative program invites participants to slow down\, reset\, and connect through sound. \nEach session incorporates elements of breathwork\, guided meditation\, gentle movement\, and live instrumental and vocal sound\, creating a soothing environment designed to support relaxation and reflection. Taking place in the Mint Museum Uptown Atrium\, the Sound Bath offers a peaceful way to unwind midweek and experience the museum in a sensory-rich setting. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat\, a bolster\, a blanket\, or a pillow for comfort. DESCRIPTION:As part of the opening celebration for Designing Dynamism: Kuba Textiles from the DR Congo\, The Wesley Mancini Collection\, Vanessa Drake Moraga\, author of “Weaving Abstraction: Kuba Textiles and the Woven Art of Central Africa\,” presents a richly illustrated talk that traces the history of the western adaptation\, appropriation\, and appreciation of Kuba surface design and textile artistry from the turn of the 20th century. \nDrake Moraga is also the primary author of the Designing Dynamism exhibition catalogue and top scholar on Kuba textiles\, as well as textile art from Africa and South America. She was guest curator for “Weaving Abstraction: Kuba Textiles and the Woven Art of Central Africa” (2011). She also co-authored “African Textiles” with Duncan Clarke and Sarah Fee (2022). Her other publications include “Animal Myth and Magic: Images from Pre-Columbian Textiles” (1995)\, as well as many articles on textile art and iconography.

Hosted by Charlotte Is Creative and Dammit Wesley of BLKMRKT\, this is one of the biggest\, largest museum takeovers in Charlotte\, and we have programming extending all along Tryon from 5 – 9 PM including SHOUT! After Dark taking over the bars at 5th Street starting at 9 PM. \nGo ahead and take Thursday off; we’re outside. \nWhat to expect: \n• 5 PM: Bar opens serving Beer\, Wine and Bubbly\n• 6 PM: Kick things off with the debut of the Steinway Series. Ethan Uslan takes over the keys with a set of ragtime classics that feel equal parts vintage and electric.\n• 7 PM: The museum flips into silent disco mode. Uslan’s vast repertoire includes original arrangements of New Orleans Jazz\, blues\, and ragtime. \nA three-time winner of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest\, Uslan has performed throughout the United States and Europe. He was also prominently featured in the documentary “The Entertainers” and his jazz rendition of Bach’s “Minuet in G”  was used in the AMC series “Interview With the Vampire.” \nAbout the Steinway Residency Series\nWorking with the Steinway Piano Gallery\, the Mint is bringing the thrill of piano music to Mint Museum Uptown. Every third Wednesday of the month\, a rotating lineup of talented local and regional pianists will fill the museum space with piano performances. \nPerformances will take place 6–6:45 PM and as part of Free Wednesday Nights\, giving visitors time to enjoy the music\, explore the galleries that are open until 9 p.m. every Wednesday\, and still have time to enjoy dinner at Mariposa at the Mint. \nThe series is presented by First Horizon Bank.
