SUMMARY:Heritage Gallery Artist Talk with Marek Ranis
DESCRIPTION:Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art Jen Sudul Edwards is joined by Marek Ranis\, multimedia environmental artist and professor at UNC Charlotte\, for a conversation on his mural in the Heritage Gallery. \nDrawing from historical images of Arctic exploration—particularly in Alaska—Ranis’s mural reflects his ongoing research into climate change and the Anthropocene. The work connects past narratives of exploration with present-day environmental shifts\, inviting viewers to consider how we document\, interpret\, and impact fragile landscapes.

SUMMARY:Caravaggio: A Life on the Edge\, public talk with Todd Herman\, PhD
DESCRIPTION:Mint President and CEO\, and Caravaggio | Revolution curator\, Todd Herman\, PhD\, discusses the life of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio—known simply as Caravaggio. Dubbed the “bad boy of art\,” Caravaggio lived with a swagger and carried a sword he wasn’t afraid to use. Despite the chaos that chased him from city to city\, Caravaggio never stopped painting. \nHis dramatic realism spread across Italy and eventually throughout Western Europe\, reshaping the future of art. Remarkably\, he achieved all this in just two decades\, producing only a few dozen paintings before his untimely death at the age of 38.
