Opening of Art of Devotion: The Santos de Palo Tradition of Puerto Rico
August 2, 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Mint Museum Randolph
Art of Devotion surveys the development of the santos de palo art form — carved wooden sculptures of saints, holy figures, and sacred scenes — and highlights the creativity of individual carvers. More than 150 carved wooden sculptures, created throughout the past 300 years, embody not only the spiritual faith but also the cultural pride of contemporary Puerto Rico.
