Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art Jen Sudul Edwards is joined by Marek Ranis, multimedia environmental artist and professor at UNC Charlotte, for a conversation on his mural in the Heritage Gallery.
Mars Drawings is a mural project by multimedia environmental artist and UNC Charlotte professor Marek Ranis for the Heritage Gallery at Mint Museum Randolph. Drawing from historical images of Arctic exploration, particularly in Alaska, the project reflects Ranis’s ongoing research into climate change and the Anthropocene. The work connects past narratives of exploration with present-day environmental shifts, inviting viewers to consider how we document, interpret, and impact fragile landscapes.
- Reception at 6 PM with cash bar
