Docents
The Mint Museum’s Docents, volunteer members of the Education Department, lead tours and programs and devote time and expertise to help visitors understand and enjoy works of art in the museum’s collections and special exhibitions. A thorough training program prepares docents with teaching skills and helps develop their knowledge of aesthetics and the history of art. The Docents look for people who have the ability to communicate effectively with a group, an interest in art, and a warm and friendly attitude. Dues are $10 for Active Docents. The next new docent training program will begin September 2012. If you have interest in joining the fall 2012 class, please contact Adult Programs Coordinator Laura Everett.

In the Words of our Volunteers
“The larger world becomes a smaller world, a neighborhood, when you volunteer. The Mint Museum offers that experience, the rewards of working with a wonderfully professional staff, a challenging educational opportunity and just a lot of plain ol’ fun!” - Gwen Bland
“Over the years I have moved 18 times, so I have been involved with museums all over the world. It's a great way for me to connect with the community and people. Because our extensive traveling, I enjoy the different cultures of the world. You get a wonderful art education not only with the art on the walls, but with the people you meet. By understanding people you enhance your imagination. A painting or a sculpture takes me to a place that I have been and it’s a lot of fun.” - Lyn Mack
