Mint on the move!

Originally installed in the former Mint Museum of Craft + Design, Dale Chihuly’s iconic 260-piece Royal Blue Mint Chandelier was dissembled in April and shipped to the artist’s studio in Tacoma, Washington. There it was thoroughly cleaned before being returned to Charlotte. Chihuly Studios installed the chandelier at the Mint Museum Uptown June 8-10.

Passersby eagerly watched the meticulous installation process from the Museum's terrace. Chihuly Studios workers Dylan Neuwirth and Thomas Gray brought pieces of the chandelier outside for the viewers to see up close. The completed chandelier was illuminated on June 10.
