Library
A reference library of more than 17,000 titles is open at the Mint Museum of Art Tuesday through Friday,
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. by appointment.

Traveling Trunks

Packed with fun interactives for all levels. The trunks offer books, videos, CDs, visual aids, activities and lesson plans.
Trunk contents coincide with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Activities include five areas of craft and focus on the cultures of: Africa, Ancient Mexico, Central and South America, and the art of Romare Bearden.

Let The Mint Museum's Traveling Trunks engage your students to enhance their appreciation and understanding of craft and culture!

FREE-STANDING FIBER FORMS

Tuesday 2 August and Wednesday 3 August 2011 | Mint Museum UPTOWN 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. | refreshments at 9:30 a.m. The Mint Museum presents a professional development workshop for teachers led by fiber artist Janet Lasher. This workshop explores the expressive qualities of braided, knotted, and woven fibers from Ancient American and contemporary fiber art works, as well as fiber making methods. Using fiber art works such as Claire Zeisler’s Blue Vision from the Mint Museum of Craft + Design collection as inspiration, teachers will learn braiding, knotting, and weaving techniques using paper and recycled fiber materials to create three-dimensional “off-loom” woven fiber sculptures. STAR Gallery

The artwork of area students shine in the STAR Gallery, our Student Artist Gallery. This space features exhibitions of artwork by area K-12 grade students and museum art class students.
A STAR Gallery exhibition is an ideal way to promote appreciation and awareness of visual arts education programs. Annual exhibitions include the mid-Carolina region Scholastic Silver Key award winners.
