About

The Mint’s Fashion Assessment & Conservation Project

For the first time in the 40-year history of the Mint’s renowned Fashion Collection, the museum is opening the collection up to the public as it never has before! Instead of working behind closed doors in collections storage areas, museum staff will work the 3rd week of every month in the fashion galleries on a variety of tasks ranging from dressing and undressing mannequins, conservation and preservation of delicate textiles and accessories, exhibition preparation and staging, and photography. Visitors are encouraged to check the museum’s website for overview of current month’s happenings in Behind the Seams!

Special note: As of June 2015, the fashion collection is temporarily off view in order to preserve these delicate objects. Please check this website for updates about the reinstallation of the fashion collection.

Selected fashions remain on view in the galleries of American art at Mint Museum Uptown .

As of Spring 2014 the Mint Museum has begun an assessment of its Fashion Collection. In order to focus on studying and evaluating the existing collection, please note that the museum is not accepting donations of fashion designs at this time. After the assessment is complete we will consider donations and will announce this via our website.
