Unknown German Maker (Rhineland) (, - present)

Frechen is one of the ancient centers of saltglaze stoneware in Germany. The dark glaze has accumulated in spots, a characteristic often found on the wares from this area. The center medallion displays a coat of arms. Like most Frechen vessels, this jug has wire markings on the bottom produced when the clay was cut from the wheel after the piece was formed.
