Invertebrate Jar

Michel Bayne (American, 1959 - present)

Michel operated his family’s heating and air-conditioning business for twenty-five years before turning to pottery-making, previously a hobby, as his new career. His work is inspired by the traditional, ash-glazed wares of the Catawba Valley and the Edgefield District in South Carolina. He calls this vessel his Invertebrate Jar because of the lobsters and octopus that decorate its surface.
