Imagine Reflessa

Evert Nijland (Dutch, 1971 - present)

Jewelry artist Evert Nijland has gained a great deal of international attention for his skillfully constructed designs that play with light and color. His work combines a range of materials from glass, porcelain and gold to hand-woven linen, silk and rich woods like mahogany. Imagine Reflessa is part of Nijland’s Venezia Series. The idea for this series developed during a 2004 trip to Venice, Italy. The city’s traditions in the fields of architecture, visual arts and design made an impression. Imagine Reflessa’s rounded forms were inspired by antique Venetian glass beads and the surface is as reflective as Venice’s watery canals.
