Guirlandes (Garlands) by Dutch Designer Evert Nijland, is one of several pieces of jewelry recently acquired, thanks to the Windgate Fund and Founders' Circle member Susan Beech. In Guirlandes, Nijland employs lamp-worked glass in his contemporary interpretation of the elaborate ruffled collars reminiscent of those depicted in the 17th century portraiture of Dutch baroque artist Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606-1659). Nijland creates an exquisite neck collar, a resonant homage to his own Dutch heritage.
