Hubert d. Givenchy (French, 1927 - present)

In the 1940s, Givenchy worked with Jacques Fath and later with Elsa Schiaparelli. He opened his Paris couture house in 1952 and at that time was then considered the youngest, most progressive of France's couturiers. In 1968, he launched a luxury line of ready-to-wear fashions. Givenchy retired in 1995; his house has since employed John Galliano, Julien McDonald, Alexander McQueen and Ricardo Tisci as head designers.
