n this Appliqué Quilt, the maker has positioned an anchor, bird, or horseshoe at the center of each appliqué block. Known as "conversation" prints, these images were popular in the 1880s and 1890s. Other popular motifs were baseball bats, riding whips, sailboats, and bicycles.
