Hexagon Mosaic Quilt

circa 1845

(, - present)

Mosaic quilts enabled quiltmakers to demonstrate their needlework skills. In this Hexagon Mosaic Quilt , the finished hexagons are only 5/8 inch on a side, and the basting stitches are visible. The paper templates used are so small that they disappear among the folded cloth edges.
