Longton Hall porcelain factory (Staffordshire, England, circa 1749 - 1760)

This mug is transfer-printed with the elaborate armorial for the Society of Bucks, a fraternal organization
in 18th-century England. Members of the Society of Bucks included civil servants, merchants, artists, and
other professionals from England’s expanding middle class; the organization’s purpose was primarily
social.
