Kinetic Rhythms #1277
William A. Hunter (American, 10/15/1947 - present)
William Hunter is a master of turning and carving wood. Kinetic Rhythms #1277 is part of his Basket Series which explores light, space and pattern. There is a sense of rhythm to the spiraling rib-like forms that encircle the vessel. Every viewpoint presents a different perspective. Hunter explains: My motive is to embody an essence of life and growth ... even transformation... without depicting a particular plant, shell, textured shoreline or specific narrative. By reconstructing various sculptured rhythms, I convey my poetic impressions of the natural world.
