Benjamin W. Owen (American, 1904 - 1983)

Ben Owen became the first “master potter” of Jugtown Pottery in Seagrove, established by Jacques and Juliana Busbee in 1921. He remained at Jugtown for thirty-six years, leaving in 1959 to open his own shop, Old Plank Road Pottery, near Seagrove. Ben Owen was cousin to potter Melvin Lee Owens and grandfather to Ben Owen III.
