Benjamin W. Owen lll (, 1968 - present)

Ben Owen III learned to turn pots from his grandfather, Ben Owen Sr. He also studied ceramics at East Carolina University, and in Tokoname, Japan. He now operates Ben Owen Pottery on the site where his grandfather’s Old Plank Road Pottery once stood, just outside Seagrove. Owen made this bowl when he was only fifteen years old. By that age he was already gaining recognition as an up-and-coming potter and had received commissions from the White House and the North Carolina governor’s office.
