Dress Suit

circa 1925-1929

Gabrielle ". Chanel (French, 1883 - 1971)

The design of this jacket underscores Chanel's philosophy for dressing a "new breed" of women in the early decades of the 20th century. Her design moves away from traditional tailoring of earlier jackets and results in a garment that is less structured and thus more comfortable.
