Elliott Daingerfield Cottage

Mark your calendars now for the next wonderful Mint Museum travel opportunity. On August 10-11, 2010, members will travel to Abingdon, Virginia and Blowing Rock, North Carolina. We will depart the Mint Museum Randolph on Tuesday morning and stop at Shelton Vineyards for a tour, tasting and lunch. We continue to Abingdon, where we will spend the night at the historic Martha Washington Inn and Spa. Dinner and breakfast at the Inn are included. Tuesday night we will attend a performance at the famous Barter Theatre. Following breakfast Wednesday morning, our group will depart for Blowing Rock where we will have lunch at a charming restaurant on Main Street. We will visit the newly restored Elliott Daingerfield Cottage. The final event of our journey will certainly be the highlight of the trip: we have been invited to the home of Patty and Welborn Alexander to see their outstanding collection of American Impressionist art. Jonathan Stuhlman, the Mint’s Curator of American Art, will help guide us through the collection. We return to Charlotte in the late afternoon. Estimated cost is $485 per person double occupancy and includes EVERYTHING.
