Latven began working with wood as a furniture maker, and in 1982 started turning vessels on the lathe. He has developed a style and reputation based on his segmented vessels. These vessels manipulate the viewer's perception of the surface by integrating curving grain patterns into each segment of the vessel. The result is a masterful rediscovery of the wood within the vessel body. |
