Behind the Seams Project

Museum staff will thoroughly examine, condition report, clean, move from the platform to the runway in the Jones Gallery, and photograph several works from the collection including: an elegant 19th century Evening Gown by renowned French designer Charles Frederick Worth (Museum Purchase: Auxiliary Costume Fund. 2003.126.1A-B) and an 18th century Court Suit worn by Major J. Tempest of Tong Hall, Yorkshire, England to the royal wedding of Marie Antoinette to Louis Auguste, the Dauphin (later to be King Louis XVI) at the palace of Versailles Paris, France on 16 May 1770 (Museum Purchase: Auxiliary Costume Fund and Exchange Funds from the Gift of Harry and Mary Dalton. 2003.123.3A-C).

As an ongoing project, museum experts will allow the public to peek "Behind the Seams" of our Fashion Collection throughout the year. Check back on our website for details on what will be happening during the third week of each month!
