Danstallations

This spring, in partnership with The Mint Museum, The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, and the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture, Martha Connerton's Kinetic Works Dance Company will present Danstallations, a series of dance performances, scavenger hunts and group discussions for all ages. In April, dance and art lovers are invited to participate at one or all of the events listed below. Click through for more details on pricing, age levels, and reservations for the April events.

Family First / The Harvey B. Gantt Center / Saturday, April 11 / 12 noon

Modern Mondays / The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art / Monday, April 13 / 6 p.m.

Sunday Fun Day / Mint Museum Uptown / Sunday, April 19 / 1:00 p.m.

In May, the series will culminate in a combined event that will include all three facilities!

Danstallations 2015 / all facilities / Saturday, May 2 / 1 - 3:30 p.m.

The collaboration will culminate in a combined event that will begin at Mint Museum Uptown, move to the Bechtler Museum, and end at the Gantt Center.
Visitors will observe original pieces by Kinetic Works dancers, and then visit each partner museum to hunt for the works of art that served as inspiration. Kinetic Works dancers will perform three short, original pieces inspired by a work of art at the Mint, the Bechtler, and the Gantt. Following the performance, dancers and visitors will engage in a brief discussion, and armed with helpful hints, will visit each museum to find the inspirational work. A wrap-up discussion at the Gantt will link the visual choreography and the art collections. Visitors are welcome to continue their exploration of all three institutions at their leisure at the close of the event.
