4:00PM - 5:00PM
Join retired player Matt Carroll and former coach Paul Silas, currently Special Advisor to the Chairman of the Charlotte Hornets, who know their way around basketball "buckets," as they visit the Mint's own "bucket" - a 3-ton steam shovel bucket used to dig the Panama Canal, part of the special exhibition Connecting the World: The Panama Canal at 100. They'll demonstrate a few basketball skills and be available for autographs and photo opportunities with the public. Plus, you can enter a drawing for free tickets to that evening's game, the Charlotte Hornets vs. the Brooklyn Nets at 7 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Arena.
If you're planning to buy tickets to the January 21 game between the Hornets and Miami Heat, use our special link and the promo code MINT, and $5 from every ticket purchased will support the Mint's educational programs!
If you're making a day in uptown Charlotte, you may also enjoy this free handbell concert taking place in the Mint Museum Uptown atrium from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday!
