Admission: Park is free | Mint's permanent Bearden gallery included w/ museum admission

Join the fun as Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation opens its newest facility, a community park named after Charlotte-born artist Romare Bearden, one block north of Mint Museum Uptown on South Church Street.

Friday August 30:

Opening ceremonies at 4 p.m.; headliner Shableek performs at 8 p.m. (Museum hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m.)

Saturday August 31:

Visit the park for free activities from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (museum hours 11 a.m.-6 p.m.)

Take a FREE Bearden-themed tour of Mint Museum Uptown at either 11 a.m., noon, or 1 p.m.

Tour groups depart the park from the corner of MLK and Church Streets at 10:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m. , or 12:45 p.m., or you can meet a tour at the Mint Museum Uptown Guest Services desk.

Experience the Bearden-themed Lewis Family Gallery and then see Bearden’s works in the permanent Romare Bearden Gallery!
(Museum visitors must pay regular museum admission if not participating in one of these three tours – visit the park to pick up a coupon for a $3 museum
admission discount!)

Concert performances begin at Romare Bearden Park at 2:30 p.m.; there are also free children’s activities, performances, and an art show at the park throughout the day.

Sunday September 1:
