Mint Museum Randolph

Speaker: Alice Cooney Frelinghuysen, Curator American Decorative Arts at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Robert Ellison, a painter, moved to New York from Fort Worth, and he began collecting all kinds of pottery perusing antique stores, thrift shops, and flea markets. He acquired works dating from 1876 through 1956 including examples by the greatest late 19th and early 20th century American potters. In 2009, he donated his collection to the Metropolitan Museum of Art where it is housed in the American Wing.
