During regular museum hours, visitors are invited to watch artist Motoi Yamamoto create a site-specific saltwork, Floating Garden, in the Atrium. (The Atrium will also be open to visitors on Mondays, February 18 and February 25, free of admission charges; no other museum spaces will be open on Mondays). The complex process is a dynamic art form in itself, with the artist “drawing” with the salt onto the floor. Visitors will be able to experience the Floating Garden from several vantage points within the space. Read more about the exhibition here. On March 3, plan to take part in a community dismantling of the saltwork; click here for details.
