The 21st Century Art Museum

Will art museums survive the cultural and financial challenges of the coming decades? What are some of these pressures and how will our institutions adapt?  E. Michael Whittington, former Mint Curator of Pre-Columbian and African Art, now President and CEO of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, will share his observations in this discussion hosted by the Friends of the Mint. This will be a lecture you won't want to miss!

Coffee will be served at 10 a.m. preceding the lecture.

Friends of the Mint, organized in 1965, sponsors educational programs about art given by knowledgeable speakers. The offerings are designed to enlighten and increase an understanding of art in its many forms. Members travel to other museums in North Carolina and enjoy the friendships they develop through day visits to area museums and the lectures. Friends’ members receive in depth knowledge of Mint Museum exhibits and events. As part of its mission, the organization contributes to the Mint’s Learning & Engagement department, supporting education and outreach. To learn more or join, click here
