CHARLOTTE'S PUBLIC ART - NEW SCULPTURE

Want to learn more about Charlotte's public art scene? Have questions about current or future projects? The Friends of the Mint have invited Carla Hanzal, Vice-President of Public Art at the Arts and Science Council to enlighten event their audience. 

About the speaker: Carla M. Hanzal is Vice President of Public Art at the Arts and Science Council, where she oversees projects to incorporate projects into major Capital Improvement Projects for the City, County and Aviation. For ten years she served as the Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC. Hanzal frequently lectures about Modern and contemporary art and serves as a juror for national and regional exhibitions. A recipient of a Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in the Policy, Planning and Research division, Hanzal also publishes articles about national arts policy and education. Hanzal is currently a trustee of the International Sculpture Center, the publisher of Sculpture magazine.

Coffee will be served at 10 a.m. 

Friends of the Mint, organized in 1965, sponsors educational programs about art given by knowledgeable speakers. The offerings are designed to enlighten and increase an understanding of art in its many forms. Members travel to other museums in North Carolina and enjoy the friendships they develop through day visits to area museums and the lectures. Friends’ members receive in depth knowledge of Mint Museum exhibits and events. As part of its mission, the organization contributes to the Mint’s Learning & Engagement department, supporting education and outreach. To learn more or join, click here
