It’s all about the glass at Mint Museum Uptown, where visitors can see a free glassblowing demonstration from the Nomadic Glass mobile glass studio of the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia, on Levine Avenue from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Thanks to a cleverly crafted mobile studio, visitors who have never been exposed to the captivating nature of glass art can see the molten magic live and in person as the Chrysler’s skilled studio members take their talents to the streets of Charlotte. Visitors can also see the galleries before attending a curators’ conversation on the exhibition Fired Up: Contemporary Glass by Women Artists from the Toledo Museum of Art from 1 - 3 p.m., hearing from co-curators Annie Carlano of The Mint Museum and Jutta-Annette Page of the Toledo Museum of Art, along with three of the exhibition’s artists. AT MINT MUSEUM RANDOLPH: Visitors can experience world-class collections of British ceramics, North Carolina pottery, Art of the Ancient Americas, and the powerfully moving special exhibition Leo Twiggs: Requiem for Mother Emanuel, conceived in response to the tragic events in Charleston in 2015. Visitor note: A FREE shuttle will connect the two locations of the Mint throughout the day.
