Ben Owen III: Visiting Artist Presentation

FREE | Wednesday, August 10, 2016 | 3:00 – 4:00 pm | Uptown

Meet the Artist at  WOW:  Wine on Wednesdays from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Mint Museum Shop.

Ben Owen’s family has been immersed in a clay tradition for several generations and continues to make work in creative ways.  His presentation will focus on the process of making pottery and extensive research into the clay materials and minerals that inspire the diverse range of color and designs seen in his work.  Ben’s work has been acquired by many museums including the Racine Art Museum in Wisconsin, Peabody Essex Museum in Boston, and American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona California. Both Ben’s and his grandfather's works are part of the collection at the Mint Museum.  One of the first pieces acquired for the Mint collection was a piece of Ben Owen Sr. made at Jugtown Pottery in 1936.
