A puzzle jug is a little practical joke a potter could play with clay. Potters have been know to make puzzle jugs for gifts as early as the 1790s.

This puzzle jug has one real spout and four fake spouts to trick the person who tried to drink from it. Wouldn't you look silly if you chose the wrong spout and water came pouring down your front!

This puzzle jug was made by an unknown potter in the Piedmont region of North Carolina in the early 1900s.
