These candlesticks were made by Vernon Owen in the 1960s. Vernon is from a family that has worked in the pottery business for over 100 years. In fact, the Owens have been producing pottery in the Seagrove area for 6 generations. Vernon's uncle was Ben Owen, North Carolina's first master potter.

Members of the family currently own Jugtown Pottery and the Old Plank Road Pottery in Seagrove, North Carolina.
