The first major exhibition of contemporary goldsmithing in 25 years, The Art of Gold showcases 82 examples of some of the finest work being made in the field of metal today. The exhibition celebrates contemporary virtuoso work while retaining the sense of craft and goldís unique historical lineage. Artists include Lisa Gralnick, who creates poetic objects often based on literary text; Gary Noffke, who specializes in surface embellishment using chasing and repoussÈ; and Mary Lee Hu, a pioneer in the use of textile techniques in metals such as woven gold wire.

 

Organized by: A program of ExhibitsUSA, a national division of Mid-America Arts Alliance and organized in conjunction with the Society of American Goldsmiths.
