About The Exhibition

From her first industrial photographs in Cleveland in 1927 to her appointment as the first photographer for Fortunemagazine in 1930 to her cover photograph for the first issue of Life magazine in 1936, Bourke-White proved in that decade span that she was not only an important photojournalist, but was equally skilled at modern design and composition. This exhibition explores, through 150 vintage works, her early aesthetic vision and her forging new photojournalism territory
