Location - Mint Museum UPTOWN/RANDOLPH

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Produces images of exceptional quality of the museum’s collection. Photograph 2D and 3D objects of varying sizes and surfaces from all curatorial collections.
  • Manages all new photography sessions for collection objects including individual requests from outside the museum and collections photography for grant-funded projects.
  • Updates, monitors, and systematically backs up the photo/negative/transparency & digital image files database.
  • Maintains the working photography studio and researches advancements in digital technology for art documentation and image storage, keeping in line with industry standards and best practices.
  • Process digital images for color correction, retouching, and processing of raw digital files. Process, label, and organize images for use in museum collections database, online applications, and high quality print publications.
  • Collaborates with Collections & Exhibitions and the Digital Media Manager, to capture, process, edit, and access images.
  • Responsible for monitoring Mint Museum Randolph collections environment (IPM and city data spreadsheet).
  • Assists with external correspondence regarding research inquiries for collection information.
  • Work with registration staff to ensure safe and proper handling and movement of artwork.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Registrar, to include but not limited to routine gallery inspection and maintenance, exhibition installation/deinstallation, condition reporting, numbering objects, inventory, and clerical duties.
